Skin contact has been part of winemaking for thousands of years, long before stainless steel, cultured yeasts, and cold fermenters shaped the modern idea of wine. Skin on Skins is our way of bringing that history forward. It’s a festival about texture, colour, feel. It’s about seeing grapes not just as fruit, but as a set of choices - how long to macerate, how much tannic grip to allow, how far to let oxygen shape a wine. And more than anything, it’s about showing Singapore how wildly expressive wine becomes the moment you stop stripping it down to a tech sheet.
This is a celebration of the growers who trust their grapes enough to keep the skins in the conversation. It’s the same ethos that defines The Smallest Wine Fair: no pretentiousness, no gatekeeping, just good juice, curious drinkers, and the people who bring the wines in front of you.
Bubbles
Sparkling wines rarely get talked about through the lens of skin contact, but it’s everywhere once you know where to look. At Skin on Skins, the sparkling section highlights wines where bubbles amplify those skin-derived textures and the wines are fizzy, energetic, and alive.

White
White wines are usually separated from their skins immediately. But “usually” is the key word. Even though some producers macerate their white grapes for weeks, they still chose to call them “white” due to tradition. This is the bridge between classic winemaking and the deeper end of the pool.

Orange
Orange wine is the most visible expression of skin-contact wines, but it’s not one monolithic style. This section is about celebrating the range - from light, tea-like macerations to full-tilt, amphora-fermented, months-on-skins wines. It’s the heart of Skin on Skins.

Red
Red wine is built on skin contact. How long do you macerate? How aggressively do you extract? How do you manage temperature, cap movement, and oxygen? You’ll taste everything from feather-light, semi-carbonic reds with soft tannins to structured, firmly macerated wines that still carry freshness and lift.
